As a result of longer-term residence
Prerequisites for naturalization as a result of long-term residence (§ 5a LGBl. 2008 No. 306)
Foreign nationals may be granted citizenship in a simplified procedure if the following requirements are met:
- Ordinary Liechtenstein residence of 30 years, whereby the years from birth to the age of 20 are counted twice
- Continued ordinary residence in Liechtenstein for the last five years prior to application
- Relinquishment of previous citizenship
- Proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language
- Proof of basic knowledge of the legal system and the state structure of Liechtenstein (civics examination)
