Patient protection equipment

In medicine, images of the inside of a patient's body are sometimes required. X-rays, among other things, are used to produce these images.

Because X-rays can be harmful to the body, patient protection equipment (e.g. lead aprons and gowns) was used for a long time. The practice of using patient protective equipment in X-ray diagnostics has evolved considerably. Today, protective equipment is only recommended in exceptional cases.
